Black Rock is a mining community for the Assmang underground manganese mines, and is situated about 80 km northwest from Kuruman on the R31, passed Hozatel. Activities include visiting the spectacular tunnels and rock formations of a worked-out manganese mine.

Aggeneys town is situated about 65 km west of Pofadder on the farm Aggeneys, along the N14 highway to Springbok in the Northern Cape. The Anglo American Black Mountain zinc, lead, copper and silver mine is based just west of Aggeneys.
